This isn’t just environmental work. It’s neighborhood work. It’s youth work.
It’s legacy work.
Inside Our Mission

Rooted in Community
At Groundwork Mobile County, our work starts with the land—but it always comes back to the people. We focus on a handful of high-impact areas that make life better where it matters most: right outside your front door. From cleaning up forgotten lots to helping young people build real-world skills, everything we do is rooted in community.

Prichard
TREES PLANTED LOCALLY
Tree planting efforts are helping to reduce heat and restore beauty in areas hit hardest by illegal dumping and blight. Streets near Wilson Avenue and Elm Street are seeing new growth
Africatown
BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT
These brownfields—once barriers to growth—are now being transformed into future assets like playgrounds, green corridors, and community gathering spaces
Southside
COMMUNITY GARDENS
In an area with limited access to fresh food and green space, Southside Mobile is seeing its first community gardens break ground. Raised beds, clean soil, and resident-led planting are turning vacant lots into assets that feed both body and block.
